Southern Expressway earns Rs. 1 mln. revenue during the first 12 hours

Sri Lanka’s Southern Expressway has collected a revenue of Rs. 1 million during the 1st twelve hours of its operations.

A  Spokesman for the Road Development Authority said this figure was achieved inbetween 6 pm to 6 am 27th.

 

During the first twelve hours of operations nearly 5000 vehicles have travelled up and down on the Southern bound road, which is the country’s first such expressway.

During this period, 1000 vehicles have entered the road from Kottawa entry while 800 vehicles have entered from the Pinnaduwa entrance.

The rest have entered through the 8 intersections of the expressway.

The road was opened for the public at 6 pm yesterday.
