Hirunika Premachandra says no to active politics yet

Hirunika Premachandra the daughter of Baratha Lakshman Premachandra speaking exclusively to the news said that she hasn't joined active politics as portrayed in the media.

“There is a big difference between joining a political party and joining active politics. All I did was taking membership of a political party, which any person in this country can do," she said.

When asked if she intends on getting involved in active politics in the future she replied in the affirmative. “As I have said many times before I intend on joining active politics in the future, but its not something that will happen right now," she said. Premachandra further went on to point out that the media storm regarding her entering into politics was due to the fact that her every step is being scrutinised.

“After the death of my father people started to get to know me, and therefore most of the time every step I take is over scrutinised and given a different turn," she said .
